Tutorial – How to Adjust Volume with Automatic Gain Control?

Introduction

Free Sound Recorder applies AGC (Automatic Gain Control) to improve recordings. AGC is an adaptive algorithm to increase and equal overall sound volume level. You can adjust the parameters and apply/preview the effects immediately even in the recording.

Step 1. Activate the Options Window

Launch Free Sound Recorder & click “Options” to activate the options window.

Step 2. Set the Parameters of AGC

Choose “Automatic Gain Control”. Check “Automatic Gain Control enabled”. Then, you can set some parameters of AGC: Low Level, High Level, Attack Time. Click “Ok” to save your settings.

The volume will be decreased if the level is more than High Level. And the volume will be increased if the level is less then Low Level. The rate of the volume changing is equal to (20db / Attack Time).
